I think their shows are fun but I certainly prefer hearing them perform an actual Dead show rather than the 'original' sets. The later lacks the thoroughly enjoyable opportunity of figuring out what show/era they are presenting as the set progresses. e

you tell me. You just spent $46.00 to see NRPS w/ only one original member. And you liked that. Nokia Theater ? What do you think, Bonehead ?

Really. That's where you want to go with it? Oh wait... I forgot you and Rob the self-proclaimed Wordsmith are lovers. So you have to defend your boyfriend's honor... that's sweet.

Douche bag.

He isn't. He doesn't. One day you will grow up and amaze us all, but for now, you're still an arsehole.

Just had to delete it...I can only wonder, though: does a gay joke (is it really an insult?) in any way relate to what's wrong with "methinks"?

Its got nothing to do with the dreaded word... It has everything to do with the insult your comrade direwolf had... To be quite childish - he started it.

Not to put too fine a point on it, and I understand that we do things in web writing that we wouldn't otherwise, but it was the observation that a "gay joke" was somehow an insult (you couldn't insult me by calling me heterosexual, nor homosexual--neither implies some "problem") since, to stereotype, folks that do view such statements as insults might also have issues with "high falutin speechifying"....like "methinks". I take you don't, and aren't, but that was all I was observing.

You are quite good at masking your true commentary.

Yet again it comes down to those who are lowly and uneducated - as I believe you've implied I am on more than this occasion. Then you hold yourself to be above, and of a higher class with such high education that words from the time of Shakespeare are common place.

Well done.

Just Go.

Always a good show - if they are doing a multi night run you can expect a show the Dead performed and an original setlist, i.e., not a show the Dead did, but an assembly of tunes. Nothing like a crispy Viola Lee Blues followed up with Wang Dang Doodle into New Potato Caboose and Caution.

Okay so that combo is kind of like shoving a salad fork under one's kneecaps, you get my drift.

Thanks All for the feedback - spoke with my friend in Brooklyn and he's up for it so I think (methinks) we are going. Maybe I'll have to bust out a few Hippie falling down stairs dance moves!

Had to add this link to an old post where I reviewed a DSO show at the NORVA in Norfolk, VA.

Laughed my ass off at what I wrote and if I may be so bold as to say, this was one of my better posts.

Be bold. It was a funny post.

btw RRE on 10-3 was outstanding. There is at least one recording here. I like the 10-1 show as well. The 10-2 set list does not stand up to the other two (methinks or imo or whatever is currently acceptable) so I haven't given it a listen yet.

I would see 'em if I had the chance... at the very least you'll get a nice evening out with some good (if not great) music.

jg – I’ve seen them twice, and as has been previously reported hereabouts I agree they put on a terrific show. The price is reasonable; I went with no expectations and wasn’t disappointed. The first time was in a seated theatre – I won’t do that again but what a time we had at the Casino Ballroom – a large open dance floor with plenty of room to get your groove on. And it is really cool when they do an older show from a period that we were too young to see and dance at. Have a blast!
